Deliver your show with the powerful impact of a
network-style studio. NewTek developed TriCaster™
virtual sets, using proprietary NewTek LiveSet™
technology, to give you the tools you need to
achieve the look of a large studio in a small space
- quickly and affordably.
TriCaster TCXD850 and TriCaster TCXD300 include
high definition (HD) virtual sets and TriCaster
BROADCAST™ and TriCaster STUDIO™, standard
definition (SD) sets. Created in award-winning
NewTek LightWave 3D®, TriCaster virtual sets give
your production a network-style look. With lights, a
simple camera set-up, and a green or blue backdrop,
on-camera talent can easily be placed in any of the
TriCaster virtual sets.

The Difference
Now, all you need to get the look of a realistic
network-style studio is a three foot wide space and
a simple green or blue background. No more need for
special hardware, expert technicians, complicated
lighting rigs, a room full of cameras, and a huge
space.
Your TriCaster virtual set studio lets you produce
live, while delivering realistic results that
include real-time reflections, glass refractions,
specular highlights and more. You can also move your
on-camera talent within the set without adjusting
the cameras. Plus, you have the ability to add
video, stills and graphics to the virtual monitors.
TriCaster virtual sets include background and
foreground images designed to be viewed from
multiple angles. Without ever moving the camera or
modifying the set, you can change camera shots, and
transition from close-up to medium, to medium-wide,
to wide angle shots, all in real time. Place your
talent in two different virtual sets and make quick
transitions from "Studio A" to "Studio B."
TriCaster TCXD850 and TriCaster TCXD300 have virtual
inputs that let you create options for your virtual
set production. You can set up animated zooms, scale
and position elements, such as live cameras, stills,
titles and motion graphics and save them all as a
pre-set. Once you have your pre-sets saved you can
activate them with the push of a button.

The Styles
TriCaster portable live production systems include
multiple virtual sets that feature morning and
evening network-style studios and sports sets; plus,
standup virtual sets that can be tailored for your
event. Expand your options and add variety to your
program with one to two person sets, for on-camera
interaction. You can also add reporters or guests
from secondary stations, while running background
video on the virtual monitors. Select set designs
also include a variety of double-box effects.
The Steps
TriCaster Virtual Sets are simple to use. First,
position your on-camera spokesperson in front of
your backdrop, then add lights and connect cameras
to your TriCaster system. Next, pick the virtual set
of your choice, the camera angles you like, and
shots from wide angle or midway, to close-up. Once
you begin your video production, you can transition
from one camera shot to another, using cuts, fades
or any one of the hundreds of video effects
available. On-camera talent will be able to interact
with the surrounding virtual environment, including
virtual monitors that display your video or imagery.
Talent is placed within TriCaster virtual sets
easily, using proprietary NewTek LiveMatte™
technology. Position them in front of a simple green
or blue backdrop; with LiveMatte activated, the
backdrop is then replaced with the foreground and
background imagery from the selected TriCaster
virtual set. Use the LiveMatte controls to fine-tune
color selection, smoothness, edge detail and light
spill around the talent, so you get a clean key.
There's also a garbage matte feature, providing the
ability to mask out areas not covered by the
backdrop.

The Options
TriCaster Virtual Set Editor (VSE) lets you
customize specially designed TriCaster HD virtual
sets to meet your production needs. Compatible with
TriCaster TCXD850 and TriCaster TCXD300, VSE Sets
provide real-time reflections and specular
highlights, and have a wide
variety of elements that you can edit.
With TriCaster VSE, you also have the option to
create double-box effects and your own original
virtual sets by populating Layer Sets with your
artwork, or composing layers in Adobe® Photoshop®,
and then importing the layers into TriCaster VSE,
which instantly transforms the PSD file into a Layer
Set for use in VSE.
Once a TriCaster VSE Set has been customized with
Virtual Set Editor, you can easily export it for
immediate use in your TriCaster live production.
Note: Virtual Set Editor requires TriCaster VSE-compatible
virtual set content files. Additional content may be
sold separately.
In addition, NewTek LiveSet Constructor™, available
as a free download for all TriCaster BROADCAST and
TriCaster STUDIO owners, allows you to use your own
photography, foreground and/or background artwork to
create TriCaster virtual set effects, easily.
LiveSet Constructor is as easy as adding a
background image and foreground matte, placing your
talent within the set, and adding the new virtual
set to your list.
Note: NewTek LiveSet Constructor is only available
for TriCaster standard definition (SD) systems.
